A Parish Event

Child of the Parish – Lewis Carroll Centre

Lewis Carroll spent the early years of his youth in Daresbury, Cheshire, as his father was the vicar of All Saints’ Church. His association with the church is commemorated in a stained glass window depicting characters from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. All Saints’ is a thriving parish church yet it also draws many visitors seeking information about Lewis Carroll. A Heritage Lottery Fund grant has been awarded for the addition of an interpretation centre to the side of the church. Working with the parish, the local primary school and friends of the church an audio soundtrack has been produced that explores Lewis Carroll’s childhood here in Daresbury, while extracts of his later work are brought to life with the voices of Ken Dodd and Dillie Keane.
